Surprise 50th Birthday Party Made Even Better With Magic
Strolling Magic, a Big Trick for Everyone, and On-The-Fly Customization
The Overview
Jenn's 50th birthday was coming up, and her husband planned an all-day surprise party. What started as a simple spa day turned into a scavenger hunt, followed by a surprise party at their home with close-up strolling magic plus a performance for the entire group. This special magic trick also revealed the final clue of the scavenger hunt, which told Jenn that all her friends and family would head to The Twelve Thirty Club in Downtown Nashville for a nice dinner!
Quick Stats
The Booking
Jenn's husband enlisted Kayla, a close family friend, to help orchestrate the elaborate surprise party. Kayla reached out to Ben via his website and specifically requested walkaround close up magic, then a "big trick" after the birthday girl arrived.
The Format:
Strolling close up magic, then a special moment for the birthday girl and the entire group. This is something common for smaller events like this! Ben was booked to mingle and perform sleight of hand magic for the guets while they enjoyed cocktails at her house. Meanwhile, Jenn was out completing a scavenger hunt!
After Jenn arrived and the initial shock of seeing her friends and family had subsided, Ben performed a special "big" trick for the entire group. This was specially designed to involve Jenn, her husband, and her kids, all while playing to the full group at the party.
Here's the extra fun part: 10 minutes before Jenn arrived, her husband approached Ben with a strange request. He held up a small envelope. "No pressure at all, but this is the last clue in the scavenger hunt. Is there any way you could incorporate it into your trick?"
Without missing a beat, Ben said "Actually, I have the perfect idea." A couple minutes later, the envelope was secretly set, ready for its reveal.
And now, the payoff! Ben's trick ended with a large piece of paper unfolded to reveal a prediction of a thought-of-card. But after reacting to the magic trick, Jenn noticed an envelope taped onto the prediction--another clue! She peeled it off and read the clue, which revealed that her and her loved ones would soon depart her house party, and continue the party at Twelve Thirty Club in downtown Nashville!
How the Room Responded
The strolling close up magic had a great impact on the group! There were even a couple people who followed Ben around the room, eager to see more magic. This is pretty common. Guests love that that magic is so interactive and happens right in front of them, even in their own hands. This is why Ben is hired often when groups want a strolling magician!
Everyone had all enjoyed Ben's close-up magic, so they were excited to see the grand finale. Jenn and her family loved that the trick involved all of them and was customized for Jenn's birthday. The surprising addition of the scavenger hunt envelope was icing on the cake!
